The Beyonders

Excited to begin an new trilogy!  The Beyonders is a series written by Brandon Mull (author of Fablehaven).  I really enjoy his writing style and look forward to reading this trilogy as I have heard really good things about it.  Last night I sat down and was able to read the first 57 pages of book #1 and have to say that I am intrigued.  It seems a bit middle schoolish....but I am not much more mature than that anyway.  Jason, our main character, ends up in a new world (think Narnia like) and has found himself seeking after the "key word" that can defeat the evils emperor.  All he really wants to do is return home to take care of his dog, but he cannot deny his quest and role to be the HERO.  I look forward to seeing where Mull takes me.  Keep reading friends!!

Prodigy

So I am REALLY enjoying this series (Legend) by Marie Lu.  I had to stop yesterday 40 pages from the end of book two...bummer.  I will finish it up tonight and begin reading book three, Champion as soon as I can.  If you are looking for a book series that is high action and easy to read, dive into this one.  I am so very intrigued to see where Miss Lu is going to take me in the final book.  Right now I have no idea who are the "good guys" and who are the "bad guys"- I guess that is a sign of some really good writing (or really bad writing)....Stay tuned.  And as always...Keep reading friends!!

Legend (is over)

I finished up book #1 in the series yesterday and am very excited to read book #2, Prodigy.  After the ending, I had to fight the urge to immediately pick up the second book.  Instead I made dinner for my kids.  Probably the better choice.  Anyway, excited to begin reading book two today.  Keep reading my friends.  I hope that you too find a book or series that you really enjoy and that challenges you in so many ways.

Blessings,

Try again...

Well, I tried.  I tried to get back into the Silver Series, but I just couldn't do it.  So....I went back to an outdoor that I really enjoy (Marie Lu) and picked up a new book trilogy: The Legend Novels.  yesterday I read the first 55 pages of the title book, Legend. Set in the future, two sixteen- year-olds, Day and June are rivals.  One grew up with every privilege (June) with the other grew up in the slums (Day).  Both are uniquely gifted and use their gifts to survive and prosper in a very hard world.

Back to an Old, New series...

Yesterday, I finished up The Young Elite Series.  Overall, a nice read.  I definitely enjoyed books 1 and 2 much more than the final book.  Still, I would recommend the series.  Now, that I am finished I have returned to a series I started but had to stop because we didn't have the second or third book in the library.  The series is called the Silver Sequence Series.  I read book 1, Silver Child quite awhile ago and was intrigued.  I'm not sure if I enjoyed it or not, but I read it.  Book 2 is titled, Silver City and after 37 pages (two chapters) I find that I am very much in the same boat.  It is strange but at the same time hard to put down.  The Roar is coming and kids from around the world are gathering.  Some have unique gifts, but none of these gifts are fully explained yet by the author, Cliff Mcnish.  I will keep at it until I finish or until I can bear it no longer.  Keep reading friends!

The Rose Society

Book #2 is in the books...he he he.  Anyway, I just finished the second book in the Young Elites series by  Marie Lu.  At the end of the Flex Time, I picked up book #3 (Midnight Star) and made it through the first 32 pages.  I really enjoy the series, although the main character, Adelina has come a long way since her quiet, timid, frightened, days of her youth.  She is now Queen and is very ruthless and dark. I look forward to seeing how the author will wrap up this story as there are many (many) loose ends to tie up.  I hope to finish up the series by the weekend...but their are many miles to go before I sleep.
Blessings friends, and keep reading :)

The Young Elites

At the suggestion of a student, I have begun reading a new series (Th Young Elites).  Book #1 was excellent and I am now into book #2, The Rose Society.  The story takes us on a journey following young Adelina Autouro as she uses her mysterious powers that she has gotten from surviving the blood fever.  Adelina is creative, smart, but very young and has a lot to learn.  I am enjoying the series and highly recommend it.

Enjoy reading!

A Million Miles in a Thousand Years

I finished The Silver Child and am waiting for our library to get book #2 in the series...in the meantime, I am jumping into a favorite author of mine, Donald Miller.  I first read Blue Like Jazz many moons ago and simply loved it.  Donald writes with a very real and raw passion.  he does not shy away form hard questions and, I believe, has wrestled with God many times in his life, and has come to have a very beautiful and intimate relationship with Him.  Our College English class read A Million Miles in a Thousand Years as one of their summer reading books and I have offered it as an outside reading book for my English classes this year.  I'm 53 pages in and am enjoying the journey.  Dive into a good book, friends.

The Silver Child

Cool new book!  At the recommendation of one of our librarians here at school I have recently begun reading The Silver Child by Cliff Mcnish.  After 98 pages I am very intrigued to finish this first (of three) book.  Short recap: six kids are changing. One is turning gold/silver.  One has grown into a giant.  One can read minds.  Two are truing insect-like. One can heal with his "beauty."  Intriguing right?  I will be finished soon.  Grab it from the library in a day or two.  Keep reading friends.

Dan Brown

So, I've taken a brief hiatus from writing, but not from reading.  I am currently reading Dan Brown's Inferno.  Having read The DaVinci Code many years ago and having enjoyed it, I decided to dive into more of the Robert Langdon adventures.  If you enjoy mystery, action, religion, art, or just an incredible rush, dive into Dan Brown's books!  Angels and Demons might be my favorite :)  Hoping to have a great school year of reading.  Blessings, friends

So Good

Been awhile since my last post...literally was reading a series the entire time.  Just kidding.  But I did finish Fablehaven and LOVED it.  Very fun.  Very beautiful.  Very Creative.  Very entertaining.  I don't want to say much more, but if you are up for the world of dragons, fairies, demons, magic, and mystery...dive into Fablehaven.

Keep on Reading, Friends!

P.S.

I just began John Green's newest book, Turtles all the way Down.  I'll let you know :)
